Cabbage's Corner
League highlights compiled weekly by the illustrious Freight Cabbage
Welcome back to Cabbage's Corner as we take a look at our league with only 4 matches left until playoffs!
Perfection Persists for Prussia: GM of the St. Cloud Flyers, and Captain of their Challenger squad! Returning champion Prussia, alongside Caesar and Immortal, continue to dominate in league play. This week they triumphed over the Bloomington Maulers in a 3-0 sweep that saw a +5 goal differential, 3 saves per game and a physical battle with both teams posting 12 demos across 3 games. Tune in this Friday at 7:30 PM as they face the 3-4 St. Paul Senators in a bid to keep their perfect season alive.
Another highlight this week was the Bemidji Lumberjacks Premier team ending their 3 game skid with a 3-0 win over the newly assembled Victory Premier. The storyline for that series was the offense of the Lumberjacks. After only scoring 1.84 goals per game across the first 6 weeks (3rd worst in all leagues), they absolutely shattered that average with 3.67 goals per game in their Week 7 victory, nearly two times their average. They now sit 2-5 and need to keep this new win streak going in order to reach the post season.
Small Pad Meta: AlecTheGr8 has shown impressive boost pathing as he leads all leagues with 82.4 small pads collected per game. The boost he picks up is well managed too as he only spends 8.8% of game time at 0 boost. He's joined in the top 3 by Peydirt at 81.3 small pads per game, and Wubik at 79.9 small pads per game.
Favorite Field: MNCS teams have locked horns for a total of 497 games this season and so far the field of choice has been Mannfield (Night) with 171 games (34.4%) being hosted on that map. The next most popular maps are DFH Stadium with 76 games played and Beckwith Park (Midnight) with 58 games played. The least played map has been Wasteland (Standard, Night) which has seen only 4 games of action.
Just Warming Up: If you like goals then Game 5 of Premier matchups is where you want to be. This season Premier Game 5s have averaged 2.58 goals, most across all three divisions, with Rising Star Game 1 next at 2.54 goals, and then Challenger Game 4 at 2.38 goals. The lowest scoring game is Premier Game 1 with 1.95 goals per game on average, the only game averaging less than 2 goals per game.
100k!: Congratulations to League Founder Ambrosia as in Week 6 he became the first player in MNCS history to surpass 100,000 points in league matches! He accomplished this feat in 232 games, averaging 441.50 points per game and 1.05 goals per game in that stretch. The next closest player is the two-time champion Aostine who currently posts 83,725 points, followed up by North at 81,940.
The Best Defense is a Good Offense: So far this season no one has spent more time outside their defensive third other than Grape, spending only 42.29% of the game in his defensive third. The other players who enjoy being on offense are Tyrant at 42.51% and Tarr with 42.52% of time in the defensive third, respectively.

Overtime Spotlights
Every week we will highlight some of the invaluable players, teams, and staff that make up the incredible MNCS community!
This week’s player spotlight:
Player: Ryu Protex
Team: Minnetonka Barons Challenger
Age: 28
Location: Maple Grove, MN
Hours in game: Over 4,000
Controller of choice: PS4
Favorite game besides RL: This is a tough question. Rocket League is the only game I’ve been able to stick with for years. No other game comes close so it’s hard to say I have another favorite game. If I was forced to give an answer I’d probably have to go with Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Car of Choice: As much as I love Takumi, I play much better in the Octane.
Boost or Ball? With all the juicy small pads, how could you not go with both? Other than that I’ll take the ball anyday.
Game mode of choice: Rumble is just too much fun. When is MNCS starting a rumble league?
Favorite show: Toradora!
Favorite sports team: I’m team Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal. Honestly, I don’t follow team sports much at all. I do watch a bit of football, but I’m not what you’d consider a true fan. I root for both the Vikings and the Packers when they actually play well lol.
If there was only one thing that you wanted the league to know about you, what would that be? The two things I can’t live without are beer and anime!
Tell us a bit about your history in MNCS: When season one started I had the privilege of getting picked up as Tero’s sub for the S1 Hibbing Rangers (Champion Team). I ended up helping Tero and Gatman get 3 match wins and was dubbed “The Super Sub” by Jelp himself. Unfortunately for the Sturgeons, my actual team, my computer died and I chose to retire. I took a 4 month break from Rocket League and gaming, but ended up getting picked up on gameday, week one, of season two. I’ve been in the league through all the ups and downs since.
Past teams: S1: Stillwater Sturgeons, S2: Brooklyn Park Raptors, S3-S4: Bemidji Beavers.
How do you feel going into week 8? I’m pumped! Delephant and Goff bring so much to the team and we mesh so well together. I’m confident we can win out in the final stretch! Do you have any “rivals” in the league? The ball. Dude keeps getting away from me somehow. “Faking” was not in my vocabulary until I met him.
What do you think separates your team from the rest of the league? We understand each other. Right from our first scrim together we were locked in. If we play our game, we will be giving the undefeated Flyers a run for their money.
What about your franchise? Well, the Barons don’t have an anime section in their discord yet, but I can say the friendly environment makes up for it. All of the coaching and support that our franchise has is on another level!
Tune in Friday at 6:45PM CDT to watch Ryu Protex and the Minnetonka Barons Challenger roster face off against the Hibbing Rangers!
Thank you for reading MNCS Overtime! Big thanks to our awesome OT staff Freight Cabbage, Isodor, & Wastee! We’ll see you next week with more MNCS updates!
