Cabbage's Corner

League highlights compiled weekly by the illustrious Freight Cabbage

Welcome back to Cabbage's Corner as we take a look at our league with only 3 games left until playoffs!

Rhythm on a Roll: Once again we take a look at the Rochester Rhythm and their continual success across all 3 levels of MNCS action. Dicey's teams are a combined 20-4 in series, and 66-32 in games. His team's continue to excel but currently sit in the #2 spot in all tiers.

Wide Margins: Week 8 saw four different teams win their games by an average margin of 2 or more goals. The Rhythm Rising Star led that category with +4.67 GPG, then Atlas Premier at 3.67, Maulers Challenger at 3.33 and Flyers Challenger at 2.00

Does He Ever Miss?: Tammy has continued to be an integral piece of the Superiors' Challenger offense. Through Week 8 he has posted 45.5% shooting this season. The other top scorer is JoeBroTheHobo who has powered the Rhythm Rising Star with 1.68 goals per game this season.

Quantity and Quality: The aforementioned Rhythm Rising Star and Atlas Premier are both top 3 league wide in Goals Per Game, Shots Per Game and Goal Difference.

Brick Wall in Net: Through 8 Weeks a few players have stood out for potential Savior of the year winner. Czecher currently averages 2.11 saves per game (through 19 games), followed by PCMcD at 2.05 and Vanish at 2.03

Overtime Spotlights

Every week we will highlight some of the invaluable players, teams, and staff that make up the incredible MNCS community!

This week’s player spotlight:

Player: Grape

Team: Hibbing Rangers

Age: 17

Location: Rochester, MN

Hours in game: 5-6k actual hours and not afk ones combined from Xbox and Steam (Started 2016)

Controller of choice: Xbox Elite Controller Series 2

Favorite game besides RL: you can’t make me choose. CSGO, Valorant, Super Auto Pets, and Slay the Spire hit differently.

Car of Choice: I never stay with the same car the whole whole series unless I sweep. Octane, Fennec, and Dominus. Dominus Grape best Grape though.

Boost or Ball?? Boost if you are stupid with 2 Os. Ball if you want to win.

Game mode of choice: 2s

Favorite show: Prison Break

Favorite sports team: Minnesota Timberwolves all of a sudden after they won that play-in game against the Clippers.

If there was only one thing that you wanted the league to know about you, what would that be? I might be a goofball when not playing my MNCS matches, but when it comes to gameday I take it very seriously. I am a very competitive person.

Tell us a bit about your history in MNCS: Joined Season 3, got drafted into Challenger with MateItsNate and Wastee. My supersub 2nd place finish while subbing up was a huge kickstart to my journey here in MNCS. Season 4 I was made captain for the Minneapolis Magic. Dicey and Bomber were my teammates that season. We finished 2nd in the finals against the Hibbing Outlaws. Now two 2nd place finishes. I am getting closer and closer to that title, however I have to do it in the Premier League now with Tero and Pace on the Hibbing Rangers. It will not be an easy task, but I am as determined as ever to go up and grab it. Do not underestimate me!

Past teams: Minneapolis Prodigies, Burnsville Inferno, Minneapolis Magic, and Hibbing Rangers

How do you feel going into week 9? Heartbroken as a team after 2 back-to-back losses in game 5 to two incredible teams in the Rochester Rhythm and the Minnetonka Barons. I think that will make us even more hungry for a win in week 9.

Do you have any “rivals” in the league? My competitive edge definitely leans towards players like: Ambrosia, Notice, and Vanish. Incredible players. “Final bosses” that are super difficult to get past it seems every time I play them. Ambrosia has my number against me 2-1, I am 0-4 against Notice, so he is definitely my biggest Rival at the moment. I am 0-1 against Vanish, but I know he is arguably the best player in MNCS so I definitely have him up there high as one of my rivals.

What do you think separates your team from the rest of the league? What about your franchise? I think we want to win it all more than any of the teams in this league. We will have to prove that towards the end of the season though. Many hours of scrims and reviews also contribute to that.

Thank you for reading MNCS Overtime! Big thanks to our awesome OT staff Freight Cabbage, Isodor, & Wastee! We’ll see you back on 5/1 with more MNCS updates!
